The game of golf embodies strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and mental discipline. SMGA programs are designed to leverage these attributes to facilitate the healing process. For those new to the game, you will find this takes a great amount of dedication to become a member. SMGA members are eligible to use many resources at little or no cost to you, so you can continue to incorporate golf into your physical and mental recovery.

Membership Requirements

Service members or veterans of the US Armed Forces wounded or injured (incl. PTSD and TBI) while conducting overseas contingency operations in post-9/11/2001 are eligible to become members after successfully completing an SMGA Clinic Series or The American Golfer Program.

*Note: SMGA may ask for applicable documentation to verify an applicant's service and nature of wounds / injuries.

How To Become A Member

In order to become and SMGA Member, you will need graduate from our Warrior Golf clinic series, which are held at chapter locations across the country. To apply, please visit your local chapter’s page found under the Locations tab.

Not near an SMGA chapter? Don’t worry, membership can still be achieved by graduating from our American Golfer Program. Click here for more information.

1️⃣ Submit Your Application

2️⃣ Schedule Your Orientation

Complete the SMGA Membership Application.

Once received, our Georgia Chapter team will review your application and assign you a Chapter Representative to guide you through the onboarding process.

2️⃣ Schedule Your Orientation

After your application review, you will schedule a brief orientation call with a Georgia Chapter Team Member.

During this call we will:

Review eligibility and program structure
Explain expectations and participation guidelines
Answer your questions
Prepare you for clinic registration

3️⃣ Get Scheduled & Registered for the Georgia Chapter Warrior Golf Clinic

This is where the Georgia experience begins.

Once orientation is complete, you will:

Be scheduled into the next available Georgia Chapter Warrior Golf Clinic
Officially registered for the 6-week program
Added to the Georgia Chapter communication group
Receive clinic location, dates, and schedule details

Clinics are held at approved Georgia partner golf facilities.

4️⃣ Attend 6 Weeks of Golf Training

6️⃣ Club Fitting & Equipment (If Applicable)

Participants attend:

Six (6) 1-hour professional instruction sessions
One lesson per week
Structured skill development progression
Adaptive instruction tailored to your needs

Program Completion Requirements:

No more than one session per week
All six sessions completed within 8 weeks

Our PGA Professionals understand veteran rehabilitation needs and create a supportive, confidence-building environment.

5️⃣ Submit Lesson Tracking Confirmation

6️⃣ Club Fitting & Equipment (If Applicable)

Upon completing your 6-week clinic:

Your instructor will confirm participation
Attendance will be verified by the Georgia Chapter
You become eligible for next-step member benefits

6️⃣ Club Fitting & Equipment (If Applicable)

Upon successful completion of the program and based on eligibility:

You may qualify for a custom club fitting
Equipment benefits are coordinated through SMGA National
Processing times vary depending on equipment availability

7️⃣ Georgia Chapter Membership Activation

You are now an active SMGA Georgia Member and can access:

Ongoing play days
Chapter tournaments
Advanced clinics
Community and peer engagement
Volunteer and leadership opportunities
